Site Preparation and Grading
Site Preparation and Grading in Waco
Every build starts with the dirt underneath it, and Sprigtoys shapes that dirt to the engineer’s grading plan before the concrete crew ever shows up. We clear the parcel, strip and stockpile topsoil, balance cut and fill across the site, and take the pad from rough grade to a precise finish grade that sets your elevations and drains water where it should go. It is the quiet, unglamorous work that decides whether a slab in Waco cracks or holds.
Why Grading Matters
Poor grading is behind most of the settling, ponding, and foundation trouble we get called out to fix. A pad compacted to 95 percent of maximum dry density and sloped to move water away from the structure is the difference between a slab that lasts and one that heaves. Around the clay soils of McLennan County, that up-front care pays for itself many times over.
Our Process
We survey the parcel and confirm elevations, strip and stockpile the good topsoil, then move earth with dozers and excavators to balance cut and fill. Structural fill goes in controlled lifts, each one compacted and checked with a density gauge. Finally we set finish grade to the plan, verify drainage slopes, and hand off a clean, buildable pad ready for footings.
