Frequently Asked Questions: Adventure Series

The Discover Rig makes no sounds- what should I do?

There is an audio program incorporated in the vehicle, so try generating the embedded audio program with no adventure guide in the vehicle. Make sure that the mode switch on the bottom of the vehicle is in position 3. In order to get the full audio program started, you must push the vehicle at least for 5 seconds for the charge to be generated and sound program to begin, the sound might begin by stuttering but the full audio program should begin within 10 seconds.

If you are able generate the audio program without the adventure guide, insert the guide into the front seat. The guide should be seated firmly into the seat so that a good connection is made. As you begin pushing the vehicle you should fairly quickly see the light on the LED come on. Depending on the guide inserted you should hear the audio program begin shortly.

My Baja Scout or Rally Racer doesn’t generate an audio program when I pump the vehicle.

These vehicles generate power to be used to light the LED in an adventure guide. They do not have the audio capability that the Discover Rig has. The headlamps on the adventure guides included in the Baja Scout and Rally Racer light up when the vehicles are pumped and contain their own stories that can be heard if they are placed in the Discover Rig.

When I pump the Baja Scout or Rally Racer, the light on the Adventure Guide does not come on.

Ensure that the adventure guide is firmly seated in the vehicle. After a few vigorous pumps the light on the Adventure Guide should come on. If it doesn’t, try a different guide to see if the guide is defective.

When I connect an adventure guide to a USB cable on my computer, nothing happens.

At this time we have no interactivity between a computer and our adventure guides or vehicles. Please do not connect our toys to your computer as we can’t guarantee that either won’t be damaged. We feel its important for your child to maintain a level of activity to hear the musical program rather than through the computer.

If you’re using recycled materials how can I be sure your products are safe?

Our recycled material origin is well controlled from single sources, such as milk crates, which are ground and washed thoroughly before compounding. The reclaimed wood we use only spends a short amount of time as sawdust before it turns into Sprigwood. The mills our supplier buys from purchase the raw timber and cut it to their needs. The saw dust from that process is collected by the same mills, ground and dried, before being shipped to them. This is how they confirm that no added ingredients like urea or formaldehyde are added to the product.

In the compound, there are no chemicals of high concern – no heavy metals, BPA, phthalates, urea or formaldehyde. Wood has a natural level of formaldehyde as part of its make up but we do not add any additives to your compound that is considered hazardous on any list. We have an MSDS for the compounds with a breakout of the materials.

We feel strongly that our use of recycled materials helps support our environment. Producing our toys from recycled rather than virgin polythene reduces energy consumption by two-thirds, produces only a third of the sulphur dioxide and half of the nitrous oxide; it reduces water use by nearly 90 percent, and carbon dioxide emission two and a half times. For every ton of recycled polythene produced, 1.8 tons of oil are saved. The inclusion of reclaimed wood in our toys provides additional savings and allows us to even further reduce the usage of plastics.

How do you obtain the wood smell in your toys?

There are no scents or oils added to achieve the aroma, the smell comes only from the wood.

How do you generate and store the electrical energy without the use of batteries?

The charge is stored temporarily in capacitors, not batteries. There are no batteries in the products at all. A dynamo is used to generate the current which is then used to drive the LED and the audio circuitry. This dynamo is similar to the type used in crank flashlights and radios to create electrical energy.

Can I order a replacement Adventure Guide for my child?

While we do sell Violet Rio and Edmund Peaks as separate Adventure Guides, we do not have the capability to replace Adventure Guides packaged with the vehicles. We have equipped our Discover Rig to play Cap Faraday’s adventure without requiring him to be plugged into the vehicle and Violet Rio and Edmund Peaks offer the same functionality of the headlamp lighting up in the Rally Racer and the Baja.
